Victorian tea party, Preservation Society of the Southern Tier, Nov 2005

Mangrove Green plays traditional music from England, Scotland, Ireland and North America. Their repertoire spans four centuries and two continents, from 17th century English dances to contemporary American fiddle tunes.

For dances MG love to play jaunty marches, twisty jigs and driving reels. Their lively and energetic sets are sure to get you up on your feet and joining in. In concert, their expressive and nuanced playing explores the emotional gamut, from bouncy Scottish strathspeys to tragic laments.

MG's traditional style is learned from fiddlers and pianists who in turn learned from their families and neighbors. Some of Kathy's favorite fiddlers and teachers are Alasdair Fraser, Martin Hayes and Buddy MacMaster.
